Terms of service
The ground rules.
Last updated 15 October 2026
Template for launch — have it reviewed by counsel. This document reflects how TAAL is built to work, but it has not yet been reviewed by a qualified Indian lawyer and is not legal advice.
01Who we are
TAAL (“we”, “us”) operates an online marketplace that connects people planning events (“hosts”) with musicians, bands and DJs (“artists”) in India. [Legal entity name, CIN and registered address to be added before launch.]
TAAL is an intermediary. The performance agreement is between the host and the artist; we provide the platform, payments, and support described here.
02Accounts
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract under Indian law. Keep your login secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.
Guests can book without an account using the secure link in their confirmation email. Treat that link like a password.
03Bookings
- Requests. A request is an offer to book on the stated terms. It isn't binding on the artist until they accept.
- Instant book. The date is held for a limited time (30 minutes at present) while you pay the deposit.
- Confirmation. A booking is confirmed only when your deposit is verified by our payment provider. Your booking page always shows the current status.
- Event details. Hosts must give accurate information about the venue, timings, guest numbers, setting and access. Material differences on the day (for example, an outdoor stage booked as indoor) may entitle the artist to adjust or decline the performance without penalty.
04Prices & payments
Artists set their own prices. Quotes show the artist fee, extra time, travel, production, TAAL's platform fee (currently 5%) and GST (currently 18%). A deposit (currently 30% of the total) confirms the booking; the balance is due 7 days before the event.
Payments are processed by Razorpay. We never store your full card details. Payments for TAAL bookings must be made through TAAL — off-platform payments are not covered by our cancellation policy or dispute process.
Fees shown on a confirmed booking are locked; later changes to our rates don't apply to it.
05Cancellations
Cancellations, artist no-shows, force majeure and reschedules are governed by our Cancellation & refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
06Artist obligations
- Profiles, media, packages and calendars must be accurate and your own. Don't list dates you can't perform.
- Respond to requests within your stated response time; requests that aren't answered expire automatically.
- Turn up on time with the line-up, equipment and duration you agreed to, and comply with venue rules and local noise regulations.
- TAAL deducts its commission (currently 12%) from each booking's artist-side amount before payout. You're responsible for your own taxes.
- Don't ask hosts to pay or communicate off-platform for a booking made through TAAL.
07Reviews & content
Only hosts of completed bookings can review. Reviews must be honest and about the performance. We remove reviews containing personal data, contact details, hate speech, or threats — never because a rating is low.
Artists grant TAAL a non-exclusive licence to display their profile media on TAAL and in TAAL's marketing of their profile. Promoted placements are paid and always labelled.
08Liability
We work hard to verify artists, but we don't control performances or venues. To the extent permitted by law, TAAL's total liability for any booking is limited to the fees TAAL received for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
09Disputes & governing law
Tell us first — most issues are resolved quickly through support. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at [city to be confirmed] have jurisdiction, subject to any consumer rights you have to bring a claim where you live.
Grievances may also be raised with our Grievance Officer — see the privacy notice.
10Changes to these terms
We'll post updates here and, for material changes, notify account holders by email at least 14 days in advance. Changes don't affect bookings already confirmed.
